Director Education and Society
The British Council is the United Kingdom’s international organisation for educational opportunities and cultural relations. We operate in 110 countries. Our purpose is to create international opportunities for the people of the UK and other countries and build trust between them worldwide.
British Council invites applications for the position of Director Education and Society. (Pay band 8 / Grade-E)
The successful applicant will be expected to:
  • provide strategic leadership for British Council Education and Society programme areas in Bangladesh, increasing the scale of income and impact across both these strategic business areas.
  • ensure that financial and operational targets are achieved in a timely manner by the strategic business areas through accurate planning, financial management and reporting.  
  • develop and manage strategic relationship with the key partners, donors, Govt. of Bangladesh, etc.
  • identify opportunities for collaboration and partnership, positioning British Council for major donor-funded projects, building new partnerships and securing funding to support Education and Society strategies. 
  • ensure continuous project improvement through monitoring and evaluation and reporting on project outcomes to internal and external clients and customers
  • provide professional expertise and thought leadership on behalf of British Council in Bangladesh.
And will have the following skills and experience:
  • Specialist knowledge of Bangladesh Education infrastructure and good awareness of governance and youth-oriented society sectors.
  • Very good knowledge and understanding of major donors’ priorities in Education and Society sector in Bangladesh.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in a similar position in Education or Society sectors.
  • Proven track record of designing and developing education or society programmes and evidence of success in developing and sustaining high level, strategic partnerships and relationships.
  • Excellent skills and proven track record of delivering national level large scale project.
  • Masters level qualification.
  • Excellent presentation, interpersonal and team leadership skills.
  • Excellent spoken and written English language skills.
We can offer:
  • Monthly salary range of Tk 121,025 – 163,125.00 (consolidated) but higher salary will be considered depending on skills and experience of the individual.
  • Transport allowance of Tk 7,500.00 per month plus other benefits according to the organisation’s policy.
