Program Manager (Food Security & Livelihood)

SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL is an international humanitarian organisation based in Paris, France, which provides aid and assistance to victims of war and natural disasters. For the past 35 years, the organisation’s vocation has been to meet the three vital needs - drinking, eating and sheltering – of vulnerable populations around the world.

Position: Program Manager (Food Security & Livelihood)
Affectation: Tala Upazilla, Sathkira District
Start of activities: 1st of February 2015.
Duration of contract: 9 months (with extension possibility).
I. Responsibilities and description of tasks: Our program in Satkhira district mainly focuses on supporting households in the implementation of more resilient and diversified agricultural and livestock systems. The Program Manager will be responsible for a range of activities which includes (but not limited to);
  • The program manager is in charge of implementing and achieving the objectives and results of a Food Security Project with Disaster Risk Reduction activities defined in the proposals.
  • He/she is in charge of supervising the operational teams allocated to his/her program and is responsible for the operational budget lines.
  • He/she is responsible for overseeing community development plans, farmer training, kitchen gardens and DRR activities, plus livelihoods support.
  • He/she is responsible to manage and train national staff working on the project. Work with a wide range of stakeholders in the food security and agriculture sectors to get their input and involvement in the programme.
  • He/she guarantees the proper execution and the quality and the sustainability of the implemented program and, if applicable, suggests adjustments or developments to ensure its relevance
 II. Qualifications & Skills Required:
  • Minimum Masters Degree in development studies, economics, agriculture, fisheries and livestock or any other related discipline.
  • Minimum five years significant experience in managing food security and livelihood programs, including
  • cash based interventions (with at least 3 years in an International NGO)
  • Proven ability to translate analysis and evaluations into operational planning and strategy
  • Experience with project management cycle (PCM), budgets, and donor requirements/protocols required
  • Experience in team management
  • Ability to capitalize on past experience and information available within the organization in order to become self-sufficient and autonomous quickly.
  • Ability to take initiative where appropriate to deal with difficulties encountered in daily work
  • Ability to adapt or change priorities according to the changing situations or necessity.
  • Motivation and commitment to humanitarian ideals
  • Ability to live in a remote environment.
  • Ability to deal with relations with local authorities as a representative of the organization.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills both in English and Bengali (Mandatory)
