The Embassy of the United States of America-Maintenance Foreman


CAREER OPPORTUNITY
U.S. Embassy Dhaka is seeking applications for the position of Maintenance Foreman in Residential Maintenance Unit (RMU) at the Facilities Management (FM) section.
Primary responsibility of the incumbent is the supervision of assigned craftsmen and mechanics for maintenance and repair of all short term leased (STL) residences. S/he also supervises the work of landlords and contractors in US Government residences, and conducts maintenance surveys of new lease and lease renewal inspections for short term leased (STL) properties.  Responsible for quality assurance, painting, appliance replacement, residential renovation, fire, safety and health inspection programs, and integrated pest management (IPM).
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
  • Minimum Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and successful completion of a trade course of 2 to 3 years duration from any recognized institution/school is required. (You must attach a copy of your SSC and trade course certificate along with your application form.)
  • Level III (Good working knowledge) English and Level IV (Fluent) Bangla speaking/reading is required.  English language proficiency will be tested.
  • Minimum eight years general experience in a relevant maintenance field, two years of which must have been at a foreman or supervisory level, and minimum one year in supervising a maintenance support operation is required.
  • Practical knowledge of building operation and building maintenance practices, carpentry, metal work, appliance, masonry and painting trades. A broad range of working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, air conditioning, sewage, fire protection and electro-mechanical systems found in commercial and industrial complexes & industrial safety practices.
  • Must be able to identify maintenance deficiencies and determine cost effective and practical method of correction. Must have supervisory skills. Must be able to read and interpret building and construction drawings and Manufacturer’s Technical manuals. Must have organizational skills to control 10,000 to 15,000 work orders per year.
